Why Colonel Bunny Was Killed— un film de Miranda Pennell /

Inspiré par les mémoires d’un médecin missionnaire à la frontière de l’Afghanistan, le film est construit à partir de photos de la vie coloniale dans la frontière Nord-Ouest de l’Inde anglaise au début du XXème siècle. A la recherche des preuves de la réalité derrière les images prises pendant un conflit colonial, le film travaille le son en opposition avec l’image afin de trouver des analogies avec le monde d’aujourd’hui dans la représentation d’endroits et de gens lointains.

Inspiré par Among the Wild Tribes of the Afghan Frontier (1909) du docteur TL Pennell.

Triggered by the memoirs of a medical missionary on the Afghan borderlands, the film is constructed from still photographs of colonial life on the North West frontier of British India at the turn of the 20th century. Searching for clues to the realities behind images framed during a time of colonial conflict, the film plays sound against image to find contemporary parallels in Western portrayals of a distant place and people.
