Une créature dont les épaules soutiennent d'innombrables boîtiers de VHS. Nous avons affaire à un personnage singulier, désespéré, construit à partir des vestiges d'une technologie obsolète. Lorsque la créature atteint finalement le point culminant de la ville afin de jeter au vent des centaines de bandes vidéos, des images d'enfance et de télévision refont surface, brouillant les frontières entre les images de la "vraie vie" et ce monde saturé par les mass-media dans lequel nous vivons.

'Cape Mongo - VHS' features a figure on whose shoulders rest an angular mass of VHS casings which jut out at irregular angles: a singular, forlorn character constructed from obsolete technological shells who acts as the viewer’s introduction to the aesthetic, symbolic and thematic landscape of Cape Mongo. Juxtaposing found home-video and television footage from the 1990s within a narrative of estrangement, obsolescence and destitution, the VHS character’s journey embodies the idea of re-fashioning discarded narratives. When the character finally scales the city’s heights to release hundreds of VHS spools to the wind, the film spirals into a dizzying whirl of childhood home videos and found footage, blurring the boundaries between images of 'real-life' and a world saturated with mass-media.
