Vite— un film de Daniel Pommereulle /

Financé par Sylvina Boissonnas, VITE fut le film le plus coûteux des productions Zanzibar. Trois ans avant, dans la Collectionneuse d’Eric Rohmer, Pommereulle et son ami Adrien philosophait autour de la question du Vide. C’est comme ci l’artiste avait ici transformé ce VIDE en VITE, marquant une profonde déception par rapport aux événements de Mai 1968, lançant une attaque au vitriol contre le monde occidental et déclarant une guerre à la lenteur. Le film est constitué de plans qui mettent en scène l’auteur accompagné d’un jeune garçon dans un paysage désertique du Maroc, ainsi que de plans de l’espace filmés depuis un télescope Questar.

In 1969, the painter-sculptor Daniel Pommereulle made his third film, this one financed by Sylvina Boissonnas. Although only a short, Vite was one of the most costly of all the Zanzibar productions. It features, for instance, shots of the moon taken by a state-of-the-art telescope, the Questar, that Pommereulle first saw while visiting Marlon Brando in southern California in 1968. In Rohmer’s La Collectionneuse, Pommereulle and his friend Adrien philosophize on how best to achieve le vide (emptiness) during their summer holidays.
