Un reporter de la Fondation, Isidor Dukas, arrive à l'Institut pour présenter un rapport. Afin de rendre les reportages plus objectifs, la Fondation utilise des agents avec des identités synthétiques. Au cours d'une confrontation avec l'un des sujets-tests, ce qui devait n'être qu'un contrôle de routine devient un dédale infini.

A Foundation reporter, Isidor Dukas comes to the Institute to make a report. For the purpose of objective reporting, the Foundation uses agents with induced, synthetic identities. In confrontation with one of the test subjects, what was supposed to be a routine control turns into a never ending maze.
