Le son est le singe de la lumière », écrit le père jésuite Athanasius Kircher. Les lois de l’optique sont-elles transposables dans le monde sonore ? Peut-on voir le son ? Autour des relations du visuel et du sonore, de la voix et de ses représentations, ce film expose et confronte une série d’actions, librement inspirées des leçons de choses ou des traités d’acoustique : chanter, sténographier, écouter, parler, bégayer, imiter la langue des oiseaux, bruiter, jouer de divers instruments (cymbalum, clavecin, flûte, alto, harpe de verre).

Sound is the ape of light," wrote the Jesuit father Athanasius Kircher. Are the laws of optics transposable to the world of sound? Can we see sound? Around the relations between the visual and the sound, the voice and its representations, this film exposes and confronts a series of actions, freely inspired by the lessons of things or treatises on acoustics: singing, shorthand, listening, speaking, stuttering, imitating the language of birds, making noise, playing various instruments (cymbalum, harpsichord, flute, viola, glass harp).
