Childhood, Toronto’s diary— un film de Mariette Auvray /

Toronto est un endroit où je suis redevenue enfant. J’y maîtrisais mal la langue et j'ai dû me raccrocher à mon regard pour être en lien avec mon environnement. J’ai donc pris ma caméra super8 pour raconter la ville dans laquelle je vivais. Au rythme des saisons, on commence par les plages de l'Ontario sous LSD, pour rejoindre une procession religieuse italienne et un parc sous la neige. Je filme des familles juives et des hommes seuls prenant le ferry pour les îles, des filles qui dansent et tracent des traits dans le sable, et des enfants qui explorent le monde et s'enfoncent dans les bois.

Toronto is a place where I became a child again. Because I wasn't mastering the english language well, I had to hang on to my gaze to be in touch with my environment there. I then took my camera to tell the city I was living in, and the change of the seasons in Canada. We cross the beaches of Ontario lake under LSD, we come across an Italian religious procession, and a park under the snow. I film Jewish families and young folks who take the ferry for the islands, little girls dancing and drawing circles in the sand, and children who explore and disappear into the woods.
