Fred Perié

Après des études scientifiques, Fred Périé s’intéresse aux comportements mécaniques des matériaux, notamment les phénomènes d'instabilité. Il est frappé par l'émergence des formes qui en résultent. Pourtant, c’est avec la question de la relation à l'autre qu’il s’engage par ailleurs dans une recherche visuelle en privilégiant deux médiums, des installations vidéos et des interventions dans le paysage. Les unes et les autres invoquent très souvent une image éphémère qui reflète le public, son corps ou ses regards. Puis cette démarche a entraîné Fred Périé vers la salle de cinéma, le lieu où au travers du film, émerge un lien silencieux aux autres. Il y met certes en œuvre les techniques contemporaines, celles qui nous incitent tant à croire en notre pouvoir sur les choses, mais lorsque il utilise l'interactivité, il la réduit à une sorte de miroir, une illusion nécessaire pour révéler ce qui est véritablement en jeu, notre capacité à nous projeter dans l’image, dans la relation.
Ses travaux ont été montrés dans des centres d'art numérique en France, comme Le Cube en 2008 et [ars]numerica en 2007. Est-ce ici ? a notamment été exposée au Festival Bouillants #3 en 2011 et nominée au Festival FILE, au Brésil en 2010. Et si là, en dessous,... a été exposée lors du Computer Art Congress #3 au 104 à Paris en Novembre 2012. En 2014, il a réalisé une oeuvre interactive pour des personnes en EHPAD. De 2015 à 2018, il réalise un long-métrage dispositif en réalité augmentée pour la salle de cinéma : L'autre de l'autre. Depuis 2019, il travaille sur Interface Malicieuse, une performance multimédia autour de la question des dispositifs.

After his scientific education, Fred Périé is involved in the mechanical behavior of materials and he is struck by the forms that emerge from instability phenomena. Yet it is with the question of the relationship with the other that he commits to a visual search with two mediums, interventions in the landscape and new multimedia installations, for which he himself writes the code.

Both of them invoke very often an ephemeral image that reflects the public, its body or its gaze. Then this process led Fred Périé to the cinema, the place where, while watching the film, emerges a silent link with the others. He also takes advantage of modern techniques, those that make us so much believe in our power over things, but when he uses interactivity, which is more or less some kind of mirror, it is to reveal what is really at stake, i.e. our ability to project ourselves into the situation.

His works have been shown in digital art centers in France, such as Le Cube in 2008 and [ars]numerica in 2007. Is this here? Has been exhibited at Bouillants Festival #3 in 2011 and nominated at the FILE Festival in Brazil in 2010. What if, there underneath..., was exhibited at the Computer Art Congress (CAC3) at le 104 in Paris in November 2012. In 2014, he created La Démesure du Possible, an interactive work for people in nursing homes. From 2015 to 2018, he directed a documentary film which is also a digital installation for the movie theater: L'autre de l'autre.Since 2019, he works on Interface Malicieuse, a multimedia performance, dealing with the social meaning of devices.
